Beginner Single Stick — Adults 18+

Learn fundamentals of stick fighting — great for absolute beginners.

Beginner Single Stick is the perfect starting point for adults new to martial arts. Using a simple stick, students learn fundamental striking, blocking, footwork, and timing in a low-pressure environment. This class emphasizes building confidence and basic martial skills that transfer to every other weapon system.

Why we train this

The single stick strips martial arts down to its essentials: timing, distance, and intent. Without complex equipment or techniques, students can focus on developing genuine martial awareness and body mechanics. It's the fastest path from 'I've never done this' to 'I can handle myself.'

Loaner equipment is available for trial classes and for new students.

  • Fencing mask with back of head protection
  • Gorget (throat protection)
  • Padded gloves
  • Forearm & elbow protection
  • Chest gear / fencing jacket
  • Hard knee & shin pads
  • Groin protection (mandatory)
  • Rattan single stick

Trial policy

Every BladeFit Academy program uses the same trial policy: a one-time $5 paid trial class. Loaner gear is provided for the trial, so nothing needs to be purchased in advance.
